Sunnyside Haven makes handcrafted treasures to help families transform a “home” into a “haven” – a place of comfort and security where memories and positive experiences abound.   How can a simple hand-sewn baby bib or a favorite kitchen towel transform your home? The key is in the little, special things that have a personal touch.  This personal touch nurtures family connections, helps children understand their value, and even gives visitors a welcome sense of belonging.  Like sowing tiny little seeds in a garden, Sunnyside Haven’s goal is that these little handmade treasures will produce a bountiful harvest in the lives of those you love.

Hi there! My name is Kerriane and I am delighted to introduce you to Sunnyside Haven! I am very fortunate that my mom (who spent her career as a business woman) loves to sew and has taught me skills that she learned from her mother and her grandmother.  Her mother, (my ‘Gram’), always decorated my bedroom in hand-sewn curtains, bedspreads, and pillows.  She made every holiday dress that I ever wore, and even made dresses so that I could match my American Girl doll!   I spent many hours in Gram’s basement with her amazing fabric stash, a needle, and thread. Now, as an adult, it brings me joy to be able to use my hands to create and cultivate handmade treasures.  I am drawn to the quietness that I find in the process where my hands are busy, but my mind slows down and I can think about the person who will enjoy what I am creating.  Now, I will be able to think about you and your loved ones as I sew!

In addition to the sewing legacy, my family is rich in hobbies. My dad shared his love of art with me during my teen years, and I filled more than a few sketch books learning to draw horses.  Here at home, we live on a small farm in Pennsylvania called “Sunnyside Farm” where we have two horses, a barn cat, wonderful gardens, and beautiful flowers. There is never a shortage of projects here! At work, for the past 10+ years, I worked alongside my dad as the office manager for his optometry practice until he retired in 2020. Clearly, I come from a family of crafters, do-it-yourselfers, and entrepreneurs, so it is only natural that I would want to start a business of my own!

Aside from sewing, crafting and my experience in the family business, I am passionate about wanting to help people (especially children and teens) know that they are important, valued, and loved.  My college degree is in Children and Youth Ministry.  I have been involved in numerous camping ministries and church youth groups.  For my whole adult life, I have been extensively involved in mission work with orphaned and abandoned children.  Each of these experiences has taught me that (regardless of age, culture, or socioeconomic status) people desire to have meaningful family connections, to be valued, and to have a sense of belonging.  So how do my passions and experiences connect with Sunnyside Haven?  My dream here is to create high-quality, unique gifts that will include a very special personal touch: yours!  Maybe your “personal touch” is embroidery on a blanket for a new baby or on a kitchen towel set for a new bride.  It could be that a certain fabric print from one of the Sunnyside Haven collections catches your eye and reminds you of a dear friend who would be thrilled to receive a small “just-because” gift in the mail.  Perhaps your personal touch is new placemats to enhance the existing beauty of your dining room table the next time you welcome guests to gather for a meal.  The possibilities are endless!

I am honored and humbled to be a part of your life and the lives of those you love.  I am so excited to share the journey of Sunnyside Haven with you!

Many Blessings,

Kerriane
